At least nine people have died and 30 more are missing after a passenger ferry capsized in the Philippines, the BBC reported. Hundreds of people had to be rescued after the Superferry 9 began listing in seas off the Zamboanga peninsula (approximately 860km south of Manila) and a mayday call was issued. The ferry was reportedly carrying 847 passengers and 117 crew members from the port of General Santos to Ilioilo early on Sunday morning. The exact cause of the incident is still unknown.
