Hyatt brings new hotel brand to Japan

Hyatt Place Tokyo Bay will open in 2019

Hyatt will bring another of its hotel brands to Japan ahead of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

The company has penned a management agreement with Tokyo Bay Resort Development for a new-build Hyatt Place hotel near Tokyo Disney Resort in Chiba prefecture. The property is expected to open in 2019.

“It is our great pleasure to introduce the Hyatt Place brand to Japan,” said Hirohide Abe, Hyatt’s senior vice president for Japan & Micronesia.

“This opening will mark a very important milestone for Hyatt’s brand growth strategy as the company expands its portfolio in key locations within the country to increase preference among guests.”

Located in Urayasu City, less than 4km from Tokyo Disney Resort, Hyatt Place Tokyo Bay will be a 10-storey hotel comprising 365 rooms and suites, 180m² of meeting space, a restaurant and 24-hour gym.

The Japanese development will mark the latest stage of Hyatt Place’s expansion in Asia; Hyatt has already opened properties in China and Thailand, and has signed an agreement to bring the concept to South Korea.
