Hyatt has entered into a management agreement for a new waterfront hotel in Auckland.
Expected to open in 2017, Park Hyatt Auckland will be set in prime location on Auckland Harbour, which is expected to undergo a major renovation in the coming years.
Ratnesh Verma, Hyatt’s senior vice president of real estate & development for Asia Pacific, called the project a “landmark luxury development”. It will be owned and developed by Chinese company Fu Wah, which also recently purchased the Park Hyatt Melbourne.
The opening will mark Hyatt’s return to New Zealand. The company has been without a property in the country since 2011, when the former Hyatt Regency Auckland was rebranded as a Pullman.
Park Hyatt Auckland will feature 190 rooms and suites, three restaurants and bars, event spaces, a spa, 25-metre swimming pool and a fitness centre.
The property will add the 34 Park Hyatt hotels currently operating worldwide, 16 of which are located in the Asia Pacific region.
