The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) has sought changes in the Market Development Assistance

scheme of the Ministry of Tourism.
At a meeting held on 8 January, IATO members raised the issue, saying that the provision of travel only by Air India was unjust and did not help in the efforts to promote tourism, as in many cases flights were not available or not convenient. The agents demanded a change in the approval system with the introduction of just one approval and submission of papers for the trip approval. Currently, agents have to submit papers before and after the trip.
Other issues taken up at the meeting was the lack of timely response to road shows, with the office bearers saying that members must respond, so that road shows are of value. Some members were of the opinion that the roadshows have to be better planned and organised for maximum results.
