India outlines costs for non-metro airport upgrades

The status and cost of the modernisation plan of the non-metro airports in India has been outlined by the country’s Ministry of Civil Aviation. According to a Ministry report, reported by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, development works in progress includes; new or extended terminal buildings at Raipur (Chattisgarh state), at a cost of INR1.4 billion (US$28.2 million); Ahmedabad (Gujarat) – INR2.91 billion; Ranchi (Jharkhand) – INR1.38 billion; Mangalore (Karnataka) – INR1.45 billion, including new apron; Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) – INR1.35 billion; Indore (Madhya Pradesh) – INR1.36 billion; Pune (Maharashtra) – INR963 million; Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) – INR1.45 billion; Madurai (Tamil Nadu) – INR1.28 billion; Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) – INR1.29 billion; Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) – INR941 million, including new aerobridges; Chandigarh (Union Territory) – INR476 million; Trivandrum (Kerala) – INR2.5 billion; Khajuraho (Madhya Pradesh) – INR753 million; and Amritsar (Punjab) – INR1.5 billion.
These developments follow completed airport upgrades at Vizag (Andhra Pradesh), Surat (Gujarat), Aurangabad & Nagpur (both Maharashtra), Jaipur & Udaipur (Rajasthan), Trichy (Tamil Nadu), Dehradun (Uttarakhand).
These projects are being funded by Airports Authority of India (AAI).
