India proposes IHM in Uttar Pradesh

The Indian government has proposed to set up the Central Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Catering Technology and
Applied Nutrition at Jagdishpur, Uttar Pradesh.
The institute will play a pivotal role in employment generation for Jagdishpur in general and the state of Uttar Pradesh.
A detailed project report has been finalized, with project details as below:
– This will be a non-profit, Central Autonomous Society registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and the funding of the Institute would be under the ‘Scheme of Assistance to Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs)/Food Craft Institutes (FCIs)/National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT)/Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM) etc.’
– The proposal entails an estimated non-recurring expenditure of INR 47.60 crore to be incurred during 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 (Plan).
– Annual intake capacity of the Institute would be 120 students (total 360 in 3 years) for BSc degree programme in Hospitality and Hotel Administration and 160 in Diploma/Certificate courses. Besides, 300 students will get short term skill development training per annum.
Currently, Uttar Pradesh has one operational IHM in Lucknow.
