The Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) is to organise a global road show, with the support of the country’s Ministry of Tourism, to promote adventure tourism to India.
Anil Mathur reports that the association, at its 7th annual convention in Dehradun (16-18 January), also suggested measures to push activities such as climbing, trekking and mountaineering, and promote “soft adventure tourism” in non-Himalayan states such as Madhya Pradesh and Kerala.
The delegates discussed the topic of destination management, with a view to carrying capacity and sustainability.
