Indian travel industry and aviation leaders have pleaded to the government to allow foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country’s airlines, Anil Mathur reports. Speakers at a seminar in New Delhi, organised by Montreal-based International Foundation for Aviation and Development (IFAAD), said that there is no reason to keep FDI out of the domestic aviation industry at a time when many other national industries are being opened up to overseas investors.
However the leaders at the same time suggested that adequate safeguards be made so that national interests are not compromised.
