Indian military intercepts Air France jet

India has scrambled a military fighter jet to intercept an Air France passenger plane bound for Bangkok, the BBC reported. According to Indian air force officials, the plane had failed to correctly identify itself after entering Indian airspace from Pakistan. The Indian MiG-29 was told to “break off and return to base” when the Airbus wide body plane finally gave the correct code, an air force official was quoted saying. Air China Ltd’s parent may sell its HK$471 million (US$61 million) stake in Shanghai-based China Eastern Airlines to focus on developing its own presence in the nation’s financial capital. According to a Bloomberg report, the shares may be sold if China National Aviation Holding Co. can avoid making a loss on the deal, Air China Chairman, Kong Dong, was reported saying said in Hong Kong yesterday.
