Indonesia’s Transportation Ministry has announced a ban on all wet landings for Boeing 737-900 aircraft at Sultan Syarif Kasim II Airport at Pekanbaru, Sumatra. Local news portal, tempointeraktif.com, reported that the ruling follows two incidents involving Lion Air B737-900s this week. The two jets skidded on landing at the airport on Monday and Tuesday. While no casualties were reported in either incident, authorities ruled that it was too risky for the B737-900 model to continue wet weather landings. Only Lion Air flies that type of aircraft into Pekanbaru.
