Instant passports for Malaysians

The Home Affairs Ministry said their thumbprints and latest passport-sized photographs would suffice and the passports would be issued to the applicants on the same day, The Star reported.
Malaysians could also submit their passport applications on-line and collect their passports the next day as part of the Immigration Department’s efforts to go paperless.
Immigration Department director-general Wahid Mohd Don recently said that the department would look into other forms of identification such as retina verification and installing higher-grade computer chips for the radio frequency identification technology (RFID) to eliminate passport and visa forgeries.
