A new English-language website has been launched promoting the northern Italian region of Liguria. Developed by Italy’s Regional Agency for Tourism Promotion, the “Beyond the Riviera” site showcases eight different perspectives on the destination.
This website follows a mobile app launched in May 2015. The aim of both platforms is to promote more of the region to UK visitors, attracting tourists to areas outside of the beaches and Riviera townships that most people visit.
The eight categories focused on throughout the site include agro food, arts & history, handicrafts, excellences, food & wine, hiking, markets & festivals and wonders of nature.
Within these themes, the website lists different routes and destinations that can be further researched through the app, allowing tourists to delve deeper into the region depending on their specific interests.
Ligurian farmers have been cultivating the land for over 2,000 years and the region now has 677 olive growers and 740 million olive trees. Seafood is also in the lifeblood of Liguria.
