SINGAPORE 15 June 2010 – ITB Asia 2010 will hold Association Day 20-21 October. The specialist day-and-a-half association event has been designed for destinations and travel professionals who want to attract, and better service, association congresses and forums.
Association Day will showcase best practices and analyse the latest trends in what is increasingly seen as a lucrative segment of the travel industry. The reasoning is simple. Professional associations of dentists, insurers, cardiologists, doctors, neurologists, engineers, and other professions, always hold an annual, biannual, or four-yearly event, regardless of economic conditions.
“Attracting thousands of professionals to your city for a major congress, and all the follow-on tours, dining and shopping they indulge in, makes the Association meetings sector highly sought after,” said Nino Gruettke, Executive Director of ITB Asia, which takes place 20-22 October at Suntec Singapore. “Association Day will go in-depth into this profitable section of the MICE business.”
In and around Association Day at ITB Asia, networking opportunities will allow travel trade professionals to exchange insights and business leads with like-minded meetings industry peers.
ITB Asia Association Day is a collaboration between Messe Berlin, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), The Center for Association Leadership, Ace:Daytons Direct, and Suntec Singapore. The event is supported by The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and the Singapore Tourism Board.
Association Day will host best practice and practical tip sessions on, “What Global Meeting Planners Look For When Bringing Their Meetings to Asia”, “Future Trends: Asia & The Global Meetings Industry”, “How to Improve the Financial Outcomes of Your Meetings”, “Using Your Meetings to Promote the Growth of Your Association”, “In Conversation with Association CEOs”, and “Challenges and Opportunities for Associations in a Changing Business Environment”.
“I would like to see Asia’s professional conference organizers enhance standards and cooperate further to bring more association events to the region,” said Nancy Tan, Managing Director of ACE: Daytons Direct. “Association Day at ITB Asia is an important step to help us achieve those goals.”
Mr Gruettke added: “Association Day is suitable for people who organize, influence or make financial decisions about meetings and conventions. Association management companies and PCOs are welcome to attend on behalf of, or with, their clients.”
Attendance is free for association executives.
