ITC has reported that sales through travel agents have improved this year. The luxury operator’s Business Development Director Lee Marshall told Travel Daily that the company has been on the road and held lunches to let agents know about its latest brochure and commitment to the trade. “We are dedicated to independents as we are a small independent operator ourselves,” explained Marshall. “So many of the larger operators are focusing on direct sales but we recognise the importance of agents. Plus now that Thomas Cook and Co-operative have merged, independent agents need someone different.” This is backed by ITC’s fair trade policy, which promises that the operator will price its packages fairly and not steal agents’ clients. In addition, the Chester-based company has vowed to offer tax free incentives. “Some agents said they were being taxed at the end of the month from receiving incentives, such as high street vouchers, but ours are tax-free,” explained Marshall. Meanwhile, Marshall said that he was ‘delighted’ with the new brochure as it provides more choice. As well as new destinations such as Croatia, India, Sri Lanka and Bhutan, ITC Classic’s new Pure Platinum brochure also features new cruise, touring and holistic holidays. There are also more villa packages following increased interest. “We have seen a surge in demand for villa holidays, particularly for celebrations,” explained ITC’s Director of Sales Judie Davies. “People are starting to go on these types of holiday rather than buy a second home.”
