Japan Airlines (JAL) has changed its baggage rules for international flights. Up until now baggage provisions on JAL’s international flights were determined by either a weight system or by the number of pieces. From 1 April 2011 however, JAL will adopt the piece system on all international routes. Free baggage allowance for First Class and Executive Class customers will increase from two to three checked-in pieces per traveller, with the same weight allowance of 32kg per piece. Economy Class customers meanwhile, will receive the same two luggage items at 23kg per piece, however the total size of each piece has been raised from 158cm to 203cm.
