From March 30, Japan Airlines (JAL) will codeshare on six additional routes operated by China Eastern Airlines (MU) between China and Japan.
The new agreement will enable JAL to place its “JL” designator on China Eastern Airlines’ flights operating between Shanghai – Kagoshima, Shanghai – Matsuyama, Shanghai- Niigata, Shanghai - Okinawa (Naha) Qingdao – Fukuoka, and Qingdao – Nagoya (Chubu).
JAL and China Eastern have been codeshare partners since September
2002. The new agreement increases to 15 the number of routes on which
the airlines codeshare. In addition, JAL has recently launched a reciprocal frequent flyer programme agreement with MU where its JAL Mileage Bank members can accumulate mileage when traveling on the Chinese carrier and redeem award tickets on MU flights.
