JAL to ask Delta for US$550m

Japan Airlines Corp (JAL) is working on a plan to have Delta Air Lines invest around JPY50 billion (US$551 million) in the cash-strapped Japanese carrier, Kyodo News has reported, citing industry sources. JAL is also considering allowing an executive from the Atlanta-based airline to join its board, the report said. Japan’s largest carrier, which is undergoing a significant restructuring process, is also considering asking for a multi-billion yen investment from Europe’s Air France-KLM Group.
