Japan Airlines (JAL) is aiming to cut costs by at least JPY10 billion (US$100 million) a year by reducing retirement allowances, Bloomberg reported, citing the Asahi newspaper. The airline will reportedly negotiate with its eight labour unions over the cuts, which will affect as many as 6,000 employees, Asahi said.
JAL last month reported a preliminary net loss of about JPY63 billion for the fiscal year ending 31 March. The Tokyo-based carrier will release final results for the year tomorrow.
