New Zealand-based camping equipment and outdoor clothing retailer Kathmandu has appointed James Strong as its Chairman. Strong, who is currently Chairman of Woolworths and Insurance Australia Group was chief executive of Qantas Airways from 1993 to 2001 and remains a director of the carrier. A Kathmandu spokeswoman wouldn’t comment on recent newspaper reports that its owners may offer shares in the company to raise up to AU$400 million (US$340) and list on both the Australian and New Zealand exchanges.
