Oriental Land Co., which owns the Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea entertainment resorts, has said that visitor numbers at its theme parks achieved record attendance figures in fiscal year 2008. The two attractions recorded 27,221,000 visits last year - up 7.1% from 2007, Japan Times reported the company as saying.
The good results were attributed to special events and offers laid on at Tokyo Disneyland to mark its 25th anniversary, according to Oriental Land. However the company is projecting that the number of visitors in fiscal 2009 will decline to between 25-26 million due to the economic slowdown.
