Korean low-cost carrier, Jeju Air, plans to expand its business to the Southeast Asian market. Korea Herald reported. It will start launch its inaugural medium-haul services between Seoul’s Incheon airport and Subic, the Philippines, on 5 January next year.
The carrier will also start its flight services between Cheongju and Siem Reap on 29 December this year, Korea Herald report added. Siem Reap is the jumping-off point for tourists visiting the Angkor temple complex - a popular attraction for Korean tourists.
Jeju Air is also to start a weekly international flight service from Incheon to Osaka in March.
“The company aims to operate international flight services to 13 cities of five countries around the world until the year 2013,” an unnamed executive of the carrier was quoted saying.
The airline had earlier said fares would be set at about 75% of those of Korean Air and Asiana Airlines - Korea’s two major full-services airlines. It said the low fares would open a new era for air service, creating new demand from young travellers and families.
Since July, the airline has run about 100 charter flights to such Japanese cities as Hiroshima, Sapporo, Kagoshima, Kochi, Matsuyama, Osaka and Kitakyushu.
