Low fares leader Jetstar will start direct four times weekly services to mainland China today with the inaugural flight to Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province.
The inaugural service, a fully sold out flight, will mark Jetstar’s entry into mainland China, supporting existing services to greater China including Hong Kong, Macau and Taipei.
To celebrate the start of Singapore-Haikou services, Jetstar is offering special all-inclusive one-way JetSaver Light fares from SGD 58 between 00.00 am 16 December 2009 until 23.59 16 December 2009, at Jetstar.com for a strictly limited period unless seats sell out prior.
Valid for travel between 27 July 2010 until 31 August 2010, subject to availability and not available on all services all days. Conditions and travel periods apply. Visit Jetstar.com.
Jetstar’s mainland China services will further grow with the recent announcement that the carrier will commence flights to Shantou* from the 2 February 2010.
Ms Chong Phit Lian travelled on the inaugural service and was joined by the Head of Meilan Airport, Mr Zhao Ye Hui, Head of the Haikou Tourism Board Mr Long Wei Dong and Hainan Hwee Kwan President Mr Foo at official welcome celebrations in Haikou.
Ms Chong said sales on the new service to Haikou were currently exceeding expectations.
“We are thrilled that our inaugural service is full and that our low fare services direct to Haikou have been so warmly received.
“Jetstar looks forward to expanding our services into mainland China and providing low fares access to both Singaporeans and the Hainan community.
“Haikou has long been in our sights for both its appeal to the large Hainan community living in Singapore and the broader group of Asian holiday makers looking for low fares access to the island,” she said.
Haikou will be included in Jetstar Asia’s interline agreement with Qantas.
“There are good connections between Qantas flights arriving from Frankfurt and London and our Haikou services so we look forward to really growing and broadening the traffic on the route,” she said.
All day, every day all-inclusive one-way JetSaver Light web fares at Jetstar.com start from SGD128.
Jetstar’s ‘Price Beat Guarantee’ is applicable for flights to Haikou. This means that if customers can find another published online fare that is lower** than the lowest available fare on Jetstar.com (not including JetFlex fare), Jetstar should be notified of the lower fare via its 24-hour call centre at 800-6161-977.
