Jin Air, the low-cost carrier owned by Korean Air, plans to operate international flights to China and Thailand in October, Korea Herald reported.
Kim Jae-kun, President of Jin Air was quoted saying that it plans to offer the services 20% cheaper than major airlines connecting Incheon International Airport to other key Asian destinations.
“We are planning to satisfy customers’ needs by offering convenient flight schedules and reasonable prices,” Kim said.
The report said the carrier has obtained the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Operational Safety Audit last week, adding that it is the first low cost carrier in the country to receive it after only eight months of flight operations.
Prior to its international debut, Jin Air plans to purchase a new Boeing 737 fleet next month to increase the number of domestic flight operations.
On 3 April, Jin Air will start operating eight flights per day between Busan and Jeju. It is already running 24 flights per day on Gimpo-Jeju route.
