Dubai’s Jumeirah Group has said occupancy at its properties remains strong and expansion plans are on track amid the global financial crisis, according a Bloomberg report. Jumeirah claims to be enjoying occupancy of 86% within Dubai.
“There will certainly be some impact on the travel industry, the hospitality and leisure sector,” Tony Cousens, Senior Vice President – Asia Pacific said in an interview with Bloomberg Television in Singapore. “However, in the luxury sector, we remain very optimistic. The interest from potential owners and investors to manage luxury hotels remains strong for us.”
Jumeirah plans to have 60 hotels by 2012, with a third of them in Asia.
