December 6th 2009, Kempinski Hotel Shenzhen celebrates the holiday spirits and spreading festive greetings to the city with the grand Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Around 300 guests gathered at the hotel front entrance, adoring the towering 11 meter-high Christmas tree and excited to be a part of the joyful event.
Took almost 2 months for making this gigantic Christmas tree is profusely festooned by the staffs with ornamental snow flakes, tinsel, red ribbons, pine cones, twinkling Christmas lights and the symbolic letter K representing the Kempinski brand on top of the tree, truly a fascinating holiday icon for the city’s preparations to this holy and peaceful celebration. The evening created a fairytale-like impression with the brilliant festive decorations, coupled with mellow carols performed by hotel choir.
Crowd was enchanted and excited when they see both a traditional Santa Claus dressed in red as well as St. Nicolas in blue.
St. Nicolas was a real-life bishop in Myra what is now in Turkey who earned his sainthood for his goodness and generosity and he inspired the later mythological character Santa Clause. Out of the stories it was passed down to new generations. Today, in Germany, as well as many parts of the world, people celebrate the St. Nicholas on December 6th as a major festival. The true spirit behind St. Nicholas is rather encouraging, that is to share with others and enjoy a happy family together. There comes the creative idea of Lighting Ceremony in line with the celebration of St. Nicholas Day.
To give something different and out of expectation as well as the love and peace, Kempinski Hotel Shenzhen made the evening a hilarious and meaningful one with sincerity and joyfulness. Cheerily and delightedly, the ceremony ended with excited crowd of a memorable night.
