Kempinski’s new Egyptian hotels are targeting the UK with their luxury product offering. Kempinski Nile Hotel, Cairo’s General Manager Fuat Koroglu and Kempinski Hotel Soma Bay’s General Manager Hany Abdelmoneim told Travel Daily that they were visiting the UK to make sure the trade has the ‘right message’ about the properties. “The UK is the main feeder market for us,” explained Koroglu. “Once we have explained who we are, we will discuss more packages with our travel partners and then build trade with other partners through travel agents and our sales office over here.” Both hotels have seen 35-40% occupancy rates throughout the summer but are looking forward to the winter season, when business traditionally picks up. “We are in the right occupancy, with the right rate on the right track,” said Koroglu. “The next few months will be busy.” “Winter season is most popular, from end of September to mid May, with a high peak season during Christmas and New Year,” added Abdelmoneim. In addition, he explained that multi-centre packages had been created between the hotels, although on a one-off, guests usually stayed for a week at Soma Bay and three or four nights at the Cairo property. Both hotels are targeting the families and couples markets primarily, with an emphasis on the luxury and experience-led products. Kempinski Nile Hotel’s PR Manager Eman El Yassaky explained that agents could create a sporting, city or beach style holiday in Egypt while staying at the hotels. The properties have also realised the value for money trend and responded with services unique to that hotel. These include Cairo’s butler service and Soma Bay’s ‘rain refund’ policy. Meanwhile, Kempinski will continue its expansion into Egypt with two new properties in the next few years, which will be located in Giza and the Fifth Settlement.
