Kenya Tourist Board has seen a record number of travel agents and tour operators attend its trade roadshows in Dublin, Manchester and London. The tourist board had 45 attendees at its Dublin event, 85 in Manchester and 110 at the London show. After the presentations and meetings, the trade were questioned about what they had learnt through The Big Kenya Quiz. A holiday, fam trips and books were on offer as prizes. “The last two years have been tough for the travel industry and despite so many destinations reporting negative growth Kenya has bucked that trend with steady growth in 2009, 2010 and the first quarter of 2011,” said Angie Sloan, UK director at the Kenya Tourist Board. “Kenya is a trade favourite – it is a more complex product normally involving two or three centres, meaning consumers favour booking through travel agents. We hope this week’s events and future fam trips we have planned in 2011 will further help the trade to convert all the interest into sales.”
