Korean Air pilots agree wage freeze
Korean Air pilots have agreed to their first-ever wage freeze, ChannelNews Asia has reported. In doing so, the airline’s estimated 1,300 union-affiliated pilots have withdrawn the request for a 3.3% rise.
“The union has unconditionally withdrawn its request for a pay increase as the company faces a worsening business environment,” a Korean Air statement said. In the first quarter of 2008, the airline posted a net loss of KRW325.5 billion (US$323.2 million) compared to a profit of KRW130.8 billion (US$129.9 million) a year prior.
