Korean Air’s third Airbus A380 has started commercial operations. The new double-decker aircraft, which arrived in Korea on Friday, took off from Seoul’s Incheon International Airport on Tuesday, bound for Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. The flight marks the first European A380 service operated by Korean Air; the first two superjumbos operate on routes to Hong Kong and New York.
Like the first two A380s, Korean Air’s third superjumbo will be configured with just 407 seats – 301 in Economy Class, 94 in Business and 12 in First. This makes it the lowest capacity A380 of any in service today, and compares to the 450 seats offered by Qantas, 489 by Emirates and 538 offered by Air France.
Korean Air has ordered 10 A380s, two of which will be delivered by the end of 2011. The remaining five will join Korea Air’s fleet by 2014.
