Kunming-based Ruili Airlines has welcomed its first aircraft and will launch commercial services in April 2014.
The new Chinese carrier took delivery of its first two Boeing 737-700 aircraft on 20 February 2014 and is now preparing to commence operations from Kunming’s Changshui International Airport.
According to the airline, it will initially focus on serving tourist destinations within Yunnan province, including Lijiang, Xishuangbanna, Tengchong and Ruili. This will see it compete directly with Lucky Air, which is backed by China Eastern Airlines.
Ruili plans to take delivery of a third B737 next month, and will increase its fleet to five aircraft by end of 2014.
