Kuwait Airways is reportedly considering postponing and order to buy 25 new aircraft from Airbus.
The state-owned carrier plans to focus on leasing rather than purchasing, according to Al Qabas Arabic daily.
The report said Kuwait Airway’s board had separated the leasing and purchasing parts of the aircraft acquisition strategy and would concentrate first on leasing an initial 20 aircraft by April 2014.
Citing unnamed sources, the paper said Kuwait Airways may now consider bids for the rental contract from other companies such as Boeing, but that Airbus was expected to still be given priority.
