Langkawi aims for 2.5 million visitors

The Malaysian resort island of Langkawi is targeting 2.5 million domestic and international visitors in 2011. News agency Bernama reported the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) is aiming to achieve the rise in tourist numbers - up from two million in 2010 - by staging several events. These include Le Tour de Langkawi bicycle race later this month, the Malaysian Tourism Expo in May and the International Geopark Youth Tennis competition in December.
