Leading Cruise Agents (LCA) has decided to focus on building its niche cruise lines following discussions aboard Hapag Lloyd’s MV Columbus this week. LCA Chair by Rotation Kevin Griffin from The Cruise People said the group should continue to work with major cruise lines such as Celebrity and NCL but it should also grow its partnerships with niche lines such as Azamara, Hapag Lloyd and Hebridean Island Cruises. “The continuing growth in capacity, and the unhealthy focus on price discounting rather than added value leads us to believe strongly in our members’ future as one of serving not only the mainline market, but also the specialist and special interest market,” said Griffin. “This is an area in which experience and expertise are key and there is no better way for our members to gain that expertise than to meet and talk with travel agent and cruise line colleagues”. A 64-page LCA Guide to Cruising will be launched next month.
