General Hotel Management Limited (GHM) said from March 1, it would no longer manage The Leela, Goa.
A statement said GHM and Hotel Leelaventure Ltd, which owns The Leela, Goa, have agreed to an “amicable separation”. GHM has been operating the Goa property since April 2003. The Leela Group will run the Goa property under the Leela Kempinsky brand name.
“In view of the forthcoming openings of our new properties in Gurgaon and Udaipur and further expansion plans of The Leela in the next few years, we have decided to regroup all our properties under one marketing alliance with Kempinski,” Vivek Nair, vice-chairman and managing director, Hotel Leelaventure, was quoted saying in The Telegraph.
The Leela Palaces Hotels & Resorts brand is supported by a marketing franchise agreement with Switzerland’s Kempinski Hotels and Resorts. Hotel Leelaventure is in Kovalam (Kerala) and in Mumbai, Bangalore and Goa.
It will also have hotels in Gurgaon, Udaipur, Chennai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Pune in the future, the report said.
