London taxis have been voted the best in the world for the third year running, following a report by Hotels.com. According to the survey, 59% of travellers worldwide gave black cabs the top ranking, despite being the most expensive. Categories that cabbies were praised for included friendliness, cleanliness, quality of driving and knowledge of the area. More than half of tourists (55%) use a taxi to get to their hotel, while 16% opt to use a private car and 14% prefer to use train networks. “I’m confident that the vigorous Knowledge of London training which our drivers are required to undertake is the bedrock of our success,” explained London Taxi Drivers Association General Secretary Bob Oddy. London beat New York (27%) and Tokyo (26%) in the poll.
