According to new YouGov research commissioned by London City Airport, six in ten (60%) Londoners say convenience of getting to the airport is their number one priority, beating both price (48%) and destination choice (40%). Convenience matters even more for families heading off this summer, with 63% of parents saying ease of travel is their top priority.
London City Airport, widely known for its speed and convenience, today unveils a brand-new premium car park, located just 40 metres from the terminal entrance – making it the most convenient airport parking option in the capital and offering passengers the ability to step from the car to the terminal in under a minute.
Convenient access like this is a rarity for many Londoners, with London City’s research showing just 32% park their car on a private driveway at their home and one in five (21%) Londoners who don’t park in a private driveway walk more than 20 metres from their parked car to their front door. The airport’s new premium car park flips that experience – offering ultra-close access right when it matters most.
Andrew Hodges, Chief Commercial Officer at London City Airport, said: “Whether you're juggling kids, carry-ons or just want a smoother start to your summer, we know that convenience is king, especially in a city like London, so it’s no surprise that it comes out on top in our research.
“At London City, we already offer the fastest airport experience in London – and now we’re making it even easier to start your journey with our new premium car park, just steps from the terminal. With a range of travel options like the DLR, buses, taxis and now premium parking, we’re giving passengers more choice and control over how they travel to and through the airport.”
With 70 extra-wide bays, the new premium car park adds to London City’s growing reputation as the capital’s most hassle-free airport. It is the closest airport for more than four million Londoners and has been the capital’s most punctual airport three years in a row. With average door-to-gate times of under 10 minutes, the airport already offers unrivalled speed.
Three quarters (75%) of passengers travel to London City via public and sustainable forms of transport like the DLR, with only 10% using a private car.
The launch of premium parking coincides with one of the airport’s busiest travel periods, with around 60% of passengers now flying for leisure. This summer, travellers can take advantage of popular holiday routes to Florence, Ibiza, Nice, Sardinia, Faro, Split and more.
