London’s low ranking on TripAdvisor is a “wake-up call” to London to better promote itself ahead of the 2012 Olympics, the online travel guide has declared. She was speaking after the UK capital failed to make the top 25 global travel destinations and not one English destination appeared in the global or even European favourites lists when TripAdvisor compiled data from its millions of users.”Millions of travellers around the world have spoken. This will serve as a stark wake-up call to London in particular,” said TripAdvisor’s Emma O’Boyle.”London is one of the greatest cities in the world, but with the Olympics two years away there is clearly work to do to convince travellers that England’s capital is a world-class destination.”The only British location to make the top 25 in the top European destinations was Edinburgh, which ranked 17th.The top three were Monte Carlo, Heidelberg and Salzburg.TripAdvisor attracts 46 million monthly visitors.
