Lucky Air, which is based in the Chinese city of Kunming, will launch operations from Chengdu next year.
The carrier, which is partly owned by Hainan Airlines, will base several Boeing 737 aircraft at Chengdu’s Shuangliu International Airport from June 2014.
It plans to launch new services connecting the Sichuan capital with key Chinese cities, including Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Urumqi, Xi’an, Sanya, Lhasa, and Xiamen, before expanding internationally.
Prior to this, in December 2014 and January 2015, Lucky Air will gradually build its presence at Chengdu with the launch of services to Jinan and Hangzhou, the respective capitals of eastern China’s Shandong and Zhejiang provinces.
Lucky Air will become the sixth airline with a base in Chengdu, following Air China, Sichuan Airlines, Chengdu Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and Tibet Airlines.
