Lufthansa has signed a codeshare accord with JetBlue, allowing customers to initially benefit from twelve new destinations in USA and Puerto Rico.
Lufthansa is offering customers extended travel options in the USA and Puerto Rico under a codeshare agreement with the US-airline JetBlue. JetBlue flights to the following destinations will in future be offered under the Lufthansa code: Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, Pittsburgh, Raleigh-Durham, Austin, New Orleans, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, West Palm Beach and San Juan. Passengers heading to those destinations can fly initially with Lufthansa from Frankfurt and Munich to New York JFK or Boston and transit seamlessly there to connecting flights bearing the Lufthansa code with JetBlue.
The codeshare agreement today has been submitted for approval to the US Department of Transportation (DOT). Pending the go-ahead from the DOT, the codeshare flights will be available for sale at the end of September. They can then be booked at travel agencies, online at www.lufthansa.com and via a link at www.jetblue.com or at the Lufthansa Call Center.
Lufthansa and JetBlue Airways concluded a series of share transactions in January last year, in which Lufthansa acquired a stake of 15.6 per cent in JetBlue. The US carrier, headquartered in New York, offers 650 daily flights to 56 destinations.
