Lufthansa to take Doha-Frankfurt route non-stop

With the start of the winter timetable 2011/12 on October 30, Lufthansa German Airlines has confirmed it will upgrade its Doha-Frankfurt service to a non-stop operation, eliminating the intermediate landing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Lufthansa will offer six weekly non-stop flights from Doha to Frankfurt, while the new service shortens the flight time from 7:30 hours to 5:45 hours for passengers departing from Frankfurt and from 8:25 hours to 6:50 hours for customers departing from Doha. “Qatar is one of the most dynamic growth markets in the Gulf region and it has long been on our wish list to bring a non-stop Lufthansa service to the Doha-Frankfurt route,” said Peter Pollak, Lufthansa’s general manager UAE and Director Gulf, Afghanistan & Iraq. The Lufthansa flights will be operated using an Airbus A330/ A340 aircraft in a three class cabin configuration. Lufthansa’s long-haul fleet is currently being refitted with an all new First Class product as well as with ‘FlyNet’, one of the most advanced onboard broadband internet hotspot technologies available. Furthermore, a new, fully-flat Business Class product will be introduced onboard in 2012.On 13 September Lufthansa launched its ‘Doha Winter Special’ promoting flights from Qatar to numerous destinations in Europe, among them Barcelona, Amsterdam, London Copenhagen, Paris, Munich and Frankfurt.
