Lufthansa’s Asian traffic climbs 6% in January

The Lufthansa Group saw a 6.1% year-on-year rise in passenger traffic on its routes to and from Asia in January 2011. The Group, which comprises Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines, added 7.5% more capacity on its Asian routes last month, leading to a one percentage point decline in load factor, which averaged 81.3% for the month - still the highest of any region. Overall, Lufthansa’s traffic climbed 14.5% on a 12.8% rise in capacity. Load factor increased 0.9 points to 61.5%.
