Manchester Airports Group (MAG) is on track to meet its carbon neutral target by 2015 at Manchester Airport, according to its first annual sustainability report. Meanwhile, targets are set to be achieved at Humberside Airport by 2012.
Group Board Director responsible for Sustainability Penny Coates, said the report outlined some of the companies best achievements to date. “We have a long-standing commitment to the environment and the local communities around our airports and are pleased to be leading the way in many areas,” she explained. “We know how critical our airports are to the economic and social development of the regions that they serve, but we must balance the benefits against the need to minimise the effects that our operations have.”
MAG was the first airport operator to commit to all its operations being carbon neutral by 2012 at East Midlands, Humberside and Bournemouth Airports and by 2015 at the larger Manchester Airport.
