A total of 960 valid samples were gathered from departing Chinese tourists at Taipei’s two airports.
The survey revealed 95.5% of the respondents were satisfied with travel agent services, and 89.8% said they were pleased with the local tour packages.
A whopping 98.1% gave tour guides high approval ratings for their professional attitude and customer service skills. A similar number praised the guides’ explanatory skills.
Over 95% complimented the travel services and arrangements, and 91.5% gave the accommodation high grades.
Food and beverage service took the only hit, but 85.6% still gave it a thumbs up.
The survey also uncovered that seven-day/six-night group tour packages ran between NT$34,482 (US$1,041) and NT$43,096.
Shopping was high on the list of activities, with most travel agencies stopping at a half dozen shops. However, some 40% felt prices at the pre-arranged outlet stops were higher than average, while 35% thought they were fair.
Still, 72.2% said the guides took them to stores with a “secure shopping guarantee” mark, while less than 2% stopped at shops not bearing the tag.
TBCT implemented a travel cost, service and shopping guarantee system late last year in which Chinese tour groups pay a US$80 fee to ensure the quality of their trip as well as their safety.
In a separate survey conducted by the TBCT last year, the majority of Chinese respondents approved of their travel experience to Taipei. Their only complaint was slow visa processing.
