The total volume of passengers at Malaysia’s airports is expected to exceed 60 million this year, according to the country’s main airport operator, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB). The company’s Managing Director, Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad, told Bernama recently that the rebound in tourism would see the passenger levels rise from the 57.8 million seen across MAHB’s 39 airports in 2010. Of this total, 34 million, or 59% of all passengers, passed through Kuala Lumpur International Airport.”We believe we can exceed the 60 million mark this year… Traffic has expanded and will continue to expand and we are increasing the capacity of our airports,” Bashir told the Malaysian news agency.
