Working in collaboration with Dutch authorities, the Malaysian government has identified the remains of 16 Malaysian nationals who tragically lost their lives aboard flight MH17, which was shot down in Ukrainian airspace on 17 July.
The Malaysian Government is working towards returning them to be reconciled with their families soon, and is in talks with next of kin over the reception of their remains.
“We have informed family members in Malaysia that the Government will accord the victims full honour when they arrive back home,” read a Malaysia Airlines statement.
“The nation indeed mourns the loss of our brothers and sisters. We will need to stand together to help in the healing process during this grieving period, particularly for those who have lost their loved ones.”
