Passenger traffic at Malaysian airports declined in November 2015.
According to the latest data from the state-run operator, Malaysia Airport Holdings Bhd (MAHB), the country’s airports handled a total of 6.8 million passengers last month, 2.7% down year-on-year. Declines were seen in both the domestic and international sectors, which fell 3.9% to 3.6m and 1.2% to 3.2m respectively.
Aircraft movements decreased 5.7%, including a 7.1% slump in domestic take-offs and landings.
The country’s main international gateway, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), experienced a 0.9% dip in passenger numbers.
MAHB said the November traffic was affected by “route and frequency cuts by Malaysia Airlines”. The national carrier experienced a double-digit decline in passenger numbers last month.
