Marco Polo Hotels has signed a management contract for a new property in Foshan, in southern China’s Guangdong province. The company will manage and operate the Marco Polo Hotel & Residence Foshan Lingnan Tiandi, which is scheduled to open its doors in the fourth quarter of 2011.
The deal was signed recently between Freddie Lee, Managing Director of the complex’s developer, Shui On Land, and Steve Kleinschmidt, President of Marco Polo Hotels.
The new five-star hotel is located in the city centre of Foshan, at the crossroad of Zumiao Road and Renmin Road. With a total area of 52,000 square metres, the hotel comprises of 391 hotel rooms and residences, plus a wedding hall, function rooms, club house, restaurants and a three-storey shopping centre.
Marco Polo Hotels currently has a portfolio of 10 properties in Asia Pacific, including five locations in mainland China. The Foshan property adds to the company’s development pipeline of 10 hotels and resorts in China, Australia and the Philippines. By 2015, the company expects to operate hotels in 12 cities in mainland China.
