The final piece of the Sands SkyPark was lifted successfully on Monday, marking a construction milestone for Marina Bay Sands. The magnificent steel structure, weighing 7,000 tonnes, was lifted in 14 giant pieces in a process that began on 1 October 2009. The heavy lifting operation is amongst the highest strand jacking operations ever undertaken in the world, and the highest in Singapore, at the height of 200 meters.
Cladding the outside of the structure and work on the 150-meter pool began in December. The Sands SkyPark will offer a public observation deck, landscaped gardens, an infinity-edged pool and signature restaurants. The Sands SkyPark will put Singapore centre stage among the world’s greatest skylines.
