Melbourne leaves others green with envy

Commissioned by the Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB), the report details the initiatives operators involved with staging business events in the city are adopting towards creating more sustainable business practices.
MCVB’s CEO, Sandra Chipchase, said the environmental impact of business events was a growing consideration when buyers decide which destination to book.
“Therefore, it’s important for us to be aware of, and to promote, the innovative, unique and even award-winning environmentally friendly initiatives the Melbourne Business Events Industry is adopting.”
Chipchase added that a major initiative was now underway which showcases the collective action taken by government and industry in Melbourne towards reducing the impact of business on the environment.
Called Savings In The City, the pilot programme shows how hotels and venues are innovating in areas of waster reduction and management. For example,
