The second largest hotel chain in the world is opening its latest hotel where the Equator line lies, Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia. Mercure Pontianak is opening its doors on the 9th of September 2009 adding to the current network of 7 Mercure hotels all over Indonesia and 690 hotels worldwide.
Pontianak, a capital city of West Kalimantan, is situated on the Equator with the longest river in Indonesia, Kapuas flows through the city. With a unique local tradition dominated by Dayak tribes, Malay and Chinese ethnic, the city became a vibrant place to discover. Pontianak is also one of the developing business districts in Kalimantan which has attracted many customers along with investors from Malaysia and Singapore.
Mercure Pontianak is the first international branded hotel with new 188 modern stylish rooms including three suites of size 50sqm. The hotel is able to cater meetings and conventions in its well-equipped meeting rooms and ballrooms. Other facilities include Ebony Restaurant that serves high quality Asian, Western and authentic Indonesian cuisine overlooking a tastefully designed swimming pool.
